"MATTERS OF THE HEART"

Psalm 43:5, Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. (KJV)

As I awakened early this morning, Psalm 43:5 was speaking loudly in my spirit (Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.)

The Holy Spirit was letting me know that I was putting more focus on my situation then placing my hope in Him.  In other words, placing more focus on the problem, rather than the solution.

We can be so bombarded, weighed down, discouraged and discontent with the issues of life.  People are losing homes and jobs due to the decreasing economy, divorces are on the rise, violence has increased and more and more youth are losing their lives tragically.

There is so much violence and increased stress going on in the world today, it reminds me of one of Marvin Gaye’s song lyrics “make you wanna holler and throw up both your hands.”

Experiencing stress is inevitable.  We all will experience some measure of stress in our lives, but I’ve come to understand that it is how we manage the stress in our lives.  Do we constantly focus on the problem, that is, to worry and change nothing and do nothing or face our problem, that is, to properly deal with it with the proper tools?

The most vital tool for any situation begins with using the “POWER OF PRAYER.”  Prayer helps us to shift our thinking from solely on the problem and placing it upon the one who has all the solutions… at the thrown of grace (prayer) is where we obtain mercy, and find grace to help in our time of need:

Hebrews 4:16, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Additionally, it behooves us to have someone to talk to, someone whom we can trust to listen, encourage us, who has experience and/or knowledge and wisdom, to be objective when needed, and guidance for resources.  The Holy Spirit of God can and will guide us through all situations, but sometimes we can be so in enthralled by our situation that we can not hear the Holy Spirit when He speaks.

Moreover, we must understand with discernment that the Holy Spirit of God speaks to us and helps us through the channels of other vessels (people).

So today, if you feel overwhelmed by your circumstances, talk to God and allow for the Holy Spirit to direct you to someone to talk to and allow Him to lead you to the unlimited resources He has to help you.

Place your hope and trust in God, and not in people, that He will give you His Godly wisdom to know what to do and move on your behalf through the channels of people and resources.

Proverbs 24:6, For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety. (KJV)

James 1:15, If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (NIV) .
